CHEFCHAOUEN TREK

The Chefchaouen trek consists of 3 or 4 days trekking. If you take the longer trek you will visit the stunning waterfalls at Akchour and bathe in its cooling waters. On both itineraries the route takes your through the heart of the Rif Mountains where we you will see interesting rock formations. You will also trek through contrasting park land of Tissouka fir trees, before reaching the unique town of Chefchaouen and its blue painted buildings. We will take a linear route and our accommodation will be in basic gites. On arrival at to Chefchaouen there will be the opportunity to explore its souks.. 

 

4 day itinerary

DAY 1 : FES - AKCHOUR - WATER FALLS
You will be picked up from Fes or similar location and transferred to the beginning of your trek (4 hours). You will trek to Akchour waterfalls where you will have free time at the river to enjoy the cold fresh water and then stay in the nearby refuge. (4 hours trekking)
Refuge, picnic lunch and dinner included
DAY 2: AKCHOUR – GOD’S BRIDGE - AZILANE
Today, you will walk towards the majestic God’s Bridge, known as “Pont de Dieu”. The trek is challenging however, the natural beauty of the place is worth the work. The geological formations and rolling hills surrounded by mountains are a superb showing of the areas magnificent history. God’s Bridge is a red-rock formation. (5 hours trekking)

Refuge, breakfast, picnic lunch & dinner included
DAY 3: AZILANE - ZAOUIYA
Today’s hike will lead us deep in the Rif Mountains, trekking amongst dates and varied vegetation of the park. (6 hours trekking) Gite Talassemtane, breakfast, picnic lunch & dinner included
DAY 4: ZAOUIYA - CHEFCHAOUEN
After breakfast we start the trek and continue through the national park, crossing Tissouka fir trees and rural dwellings. Our trek concludes in Chefchaouen, known for its striking blue washed buildings in the old town. (4 hours trekking)

Trek style
Staying overnight in gites (basic dormitories) . Trekking with a day pack to a different location everyday. Main luggage is portaged by mules. All meals provided whilst on trek by our expedition cook. Trek led by qualified Moroccan guide who speaks English fluently.
