Based in Ambleside in the north of the Lake District we can offer you a trekat explores the varied Cumbrian countryside. This holiday starts off with moderate treks building up to the more strenuous routes of Middle Dodd and Fairfield Horseshoe, with some of the most stunning views in the Lake District.

 

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Ambleside, Lake District

Arrive in Ambleside at your hotel by 7.30pm. You will be welcomed by Georgina Talfana your guide for the holiday. She will explain to you the programme for the week and the necessary equipment to take on your day treks.

Day 2 – Trek up Old Man of Coniston 803m

The circular moderate path up to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston gives us a gradual start to your walking holiday. We will see various mine shafts and a pretty lake on our way. After reaching the summit we will continue over Dow Crags and via the southern slopes in order to return to our starting point.

Hotel, breakfast and dinner included. 5-6 hours trekking, 703m ascent

 

Day 3 – Trek up Red Screes and Middle Dodd 864m

This morning we will start our walking from Ambleside taking the long south easterly slope and the Red Screes up to Middle Dodd 864m. A small section of the route is off piste and makes for an adventurous walk. We will return via the same route before returning to our hotel via for dinner.

Day 4 – Rest day (can be swopped to any other day)

Today we have several options. You can visit can either spend your day looking round the bustling town in Ambleside or take a visit to Windermere renowned for its picturesque lake. The choice is yours!

Day 5 – Fairfield Horseshoe

We will start our trek again from Ambleside. This is a classic and challenging trek which provides panoramic views of much of the Lakeland countryside. The circular route takes in the slopes of Rydal Fell, Great Rigg and Hart Crag.

Hotel, breakfast and dinner included. 6-7 hours trekking, 1080m ascent

 

Day 6 – Applethwaite Common and Kentmere

We finish with a gentler circular trek to conclude your holiday. Our path begins as a balcony give views over to Troutbeck and Windermere. After crossing the saddle at 500m we continue through Garburn Pass and a small forest. The path takes us through a pretty settlement called The Nook and back along the river.

Day 7 – Depart

You will be transferred to Ambleside after breakfast in order to make your way home.
