It's very possible to do the school expedition in our area, it's a spectacular place geographically with in the Natural Park of Los Alcornocales which is Spain's largest cork forest, extending over the 2 provinces of Cadiz and Malaga. Not so high altitude but with exceptional treks throughout the mountain range. And an added bonus is that in July & August it's the season for harvesting the cork which is done in the ancient traditional way by hand and using pack mules, this could be incorporated into the trek.
The trekking part would consist of walking from El Colmenar/Estacion de Gaucin up the GUADIARO River valley to the highest town of the mountain range in the Serrania de Ronda and back down another river valley of the Genal River , approx a weeks hike and can be stretched out more. Both these rivers flow down to the Med near Gibraltar. There are small mountain villages along the route like ours El Colmenar with a pop of 680.
The beach time could be on the Atlantic Coast , Bolonia which has impressive roman ruins, high sand dunes and windsurfing, it's a lovely long bay. I'm sourcing large accommodation as the nearest campsite is Tarifa, which could also be an option.
The community project would be the repair of the roof and interior of the local (El Colmenar/Estacion de Gaucin) town hall albergue (Hostal), the group can camp on site as there are all the amenities.
